Most marketers know by now that you can make a lot of money by having a list. Sending out a newsletter, or publishing an ezine can help you earn easier by allowing you to sit back as the customers come to you, rather than you going out trying to get the customers.

It's not just having a list that earns money, but having a targeted list and more importantly, building a relationship with that list. Some people may boast about having a large list of 10,000+, but so what! If they promote to that list and only 20 people purchase, then something is wrong. Good marketers can make an average of $1 per subscriber per month, and top marketers can often get $3 or more per subscriber per month. The more responsive the list, the better.

So where do you find list owners with responsive lists? Well, if you want to find list owners for doing joint ventures with, then you'll be looking for lists in a specific niche. So the best place to find them is at the top ranked sites in your niche. A lot of people who have successful high traffic websites will have a list, and if their site is high traffic, then it usually means they know what they're talking about, and are very good candidates for having a responsive list.

Another method for finding responsive list owners is to check out the ezine directories. They are FULL of different ezines and newsletters you can join, contact, purchase advertising in, or do joint ventures with. They are often categorized into different niche topics, and some will give very specific details of the list size, website, topics covered, contacts for list owner, advertising costs, etc... Some directories are easier to use than others based on their layouts and how the information is displayed.

One of the best ezine directories for ease of use and good layout is the Directory of Ezines. It is designed specifically for marketers ease of use and I highly recommend checking this one out. The only downfall to it, is that because it's designed for marketers to research good list owners for joint ventures and advertising, they charge a fee to access and use the site. Considering how much you can make from one successful joint venture, the fee is minimal.

Remember when looking through them that bigger lists are not always better than smaller ones. Pay good attention to the descriptions and content offered rather than just the list size. Also, if the list runs a lot of ads per issue, then the subscribers may be less responsive. The best ezines usually don't sell any adspace, but focus more on content and doing joint venture promotions. They have higher responses based on their relationships with their lists. Just think, if you were a subscriber and the list owner provided lots of quality content, only promoted stuff that they specifically chose to, and gave you good reasons/reviews on why you should buy. Wouldn't you be more responsive.

One thing to note for when you approach list owners for joint ventures, is that it's always a good idea to have a ready made e-mail template or 2 that they can use to promote your product with. This makes it easy for those that don't have the time, or don't want to write an email promotion themselves. It's still best if they write one themselves that sounds like it comes straight from them, but if you have a template for them ready-made, they can just tweak it to their personal style if they wish to. You'll get more joint venture partners if you come to them prepared.
