My first Joint Venture

My first joint venture didn't make me a millionaire overnight, and may sound trivial in comparison to many stories you'll hear, but I believe taking action is the first step, and all small successes lead to larger ones. So here it is.
I had read many e-books, and been following many internet marketing newsletters for awhile. I'd read about joint ventures, and it did interest me greatly, due to the fact that I was new to internet marketing and didn't have a list or high traffic website.
I decided to buy Neil Sheerings Internet Success Spider which describes how you can find super affiliates online to do joint ventures with. I installed, and played around with it a bit, but didn't actually use it right away. In fact, I put it on the shelf for awhile because I wasn't quite sure who I was looking for on there.
A few months later, after having joined a few affiliate programs and starting to see a few sales online from my website, I remembered the Internet Success Spider. I took a few related 2-tier affiliate programs I was involved in and built a little web page that described each one. They were all related to the same target market. I then used the Success Spider software to locate about 10 of the top websites related to that market and contacted each of them individually proposing a joint venture whereby they could review the two-tier affiliate programs, and decide whether they'd like to promote them on their high traffic websites.
Well, this was quite basic, and I certainly didn't go into depth on the relationship building aspect of it, but I did get some replies from a few of the sites with an interest to promote the programs and some questions related to them. I answered the questions and then waited.
About a month and a half later I received an e-mail from one of the affiliate programs that said my check had been issued and sent in the mail. Well, when I logged into my affiliate account, I discovered that 85% of the sales were due to my subaffiliates. In fact my own website had only generated 3 sales for half the previous month, and 17 sales were generated by my joint venture partners.
It may not sound like too much, but it hasn't stopped producing. The sales keep coming in. Best of all, it had only taken me about an hour or two of using the Internet Success Spider, and a few minutes for answering the e-mail responses I later received. Now it's residual second tier affiliate income.
So that's my first joint venture success story. I'm sure I will have more to share in the near future with some even bigger payoffs.
Peace, Prosperity, Respect,
Jambhala
